I’m back trying to improve my cognitive/physical health. Attempting to improve my bloodwork results for my next physical prompted me to abstain from alcohol beverages since August 25. I don’t really have a goal/plan in mind but having more moments of mental clarity at my favorite times is nice. I also would like to sleep better and feel less hot in the morning which I directly attribute to gluttony.

The Viking’s new quarterback #9, J.J. McCarthy, had a nice debut with a come-from-behind win against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. SKOL Vikings! 🏈

On the HVAC front, the power to our thermostat went out during the week so we attempted to make a repair appointment, Northern Air vs Rapids Plumbing and Heating, who will win?

Tioga SCUBA diving Thursday evening with Ken and Tom. Great diving as usual in the pool. While waiting for my dive partners, I had a peaceful moment of floating on my back, sensory deprivation style, before the dive. We entered at the boat landing and met up at the dog. I then descended down the wall going parallel with the swimming beach. I’ve never noticed how flat the rock wall is in this area. I descended down to a depth where I could see the white sand bottom jutting out from the wall. Reminded me of a desert scene from Dune. The visibility past 100 feet was great. During my safety stop, I performed a mask exchange drill. I met Rich and Terry as I was returning to my truck, they were kitting up for a later dive.

Deactivated and removed X from my phone. I was hanging on to it for SpaceX news but it has become completely worthless even for getting info on Elon’s own business. Nasa Space Flight (NSF) is my current go-to for SpaceX news now.

Saturday was the 35th Rosemount Marching Band Festival which included both Prelims and Final. Ten bands make it to finals based on score/regardless of class. If a class champ isn't in the top 10 scores, they will perform in exhibition to open finals (similar to a BOA event)

Grand Rapids was 5th in Class AA Prelims and made it to finals where they finished 7th with a score of 70.85.

The following is from the Rosemount Band website.

“Each Marching Band’s class placement is be determined by the following criteria:
1.) Size of the Marching Band
2.) School enrollment
3.) Experience in Marching Band Field Show competition
4.) Band Director preference”

The following is from the Eden Prairie Band website.

“The basic judging system used at marching band field show competitions involves six judges evaluating each of the performances. Each judge evaluates specific aspects of the performance and is responsible for a portion of the final score. Judges use the following criteria to score the bands:
* Marching & Maneuvering Execution, evaluated by a judge on the field = 20 points
* Music Execution, evaluated by a judge in the press box = 20 points
* General Effect: Music, evaluated by a judge in the press box = 20 points
* General Effect: Visual, evaluated by a judge in the press box = 20 points
* Percussion, evaluated by a judge on the field = 10 points
* Color Guard, evaluated by a judge in the press box = 10 points
* TOTAL = 100 POINTS”
