Monday was our 24th anniversary! Unfortunately, we both had to work so there wasn't much time for anything other than our regular routine but it was a nice day nonetheless.

Wedding
Our anniversary reminded me of June and Irv’s 50th wedding anniversary celebration Jan. 22, 1990 held at their winter home on Maui, 3391 Keha Dr, Kihei, Hawaii. I was 15 years old then and my memories of that trip include the Wiki Wiki Shuttle at the Honolulu airport, the incredible rainfall at the Maui airport upon arrival, and my first smell of Hawaii flowers in the air. 🌺

I picked up a nasty cold on the plane ride and ended up recovering on my grandparent’s couch for a day. My mother and I stayed at the Maui Mana Kai.

Irv had a putting green in front of his house that people enjoyed friendly putting competitions ⛳️ on. Jim Westlie, June’s brother, treated the entire family to dinner at the Maui Prince. Because of the dress code, June had to buy me formal clothes beforehand so I could attend. Our table was right beside a koi pond, making the evening even more memorable.

We also ate at Hali’imaile General Store and I had roasted duckling that was delicious 🤤. I really wanted to find a “Maui Diamond” which are small quartz crystals from the island and sold in the shops in Lahaina. Never found one. We explored the Road to Hana which included the black sand beach and Haleakala National Park. I also remember going for a boat ride and snorkeling.

Maui 1990
Monday 22nd, was also the Fall Equinox marking the official end of summer and start to fall. 🍂🍁 The work week was busy for all of us.

On Saturday the 27th, we attended Kassi and Megan’s wedding on Rice Lake. The sun was out and the fall leaves were beautiful. After the wedding, we had some delicious pulled pork and we enjoyed some 1919 Root Beer from a keg. 🍻

Sunday the 28th was Tiffany’s five-year work anniversary at Anderson Family Dental! It’s crazy to me that we left our home in Canby half a decade ago. She has enjoyed her job and really likes the people she works with.

I spent a good part of my day off on Sunday playing Kingdom Hearts using the PCSX2 emulator on my MacBook. I am obsessed with figuring out all the worlds. This kind of story-based video game reminds me of working one’s way through an escape room.

It was a warm day with full sunshine and very little winds. Tiffany and Andrew went kayaking and I enjoyed a few peaceful moments on the dock. We initially planned on taking the dock out but changed our mind and will take it out later. Hopefully we don’t regret our decision later.

End of blog. Thank you for reading!
