It was very cold on Monday morning, around two degrees. At least its above zero, I guess. 🤷♂️
Tuesday, after our monthly dive team meeting, I, along with Rich, Andrea, Tom, and Jon headed over to the Forest Lake for dinner. We all had burgers except for Tom who had a Patty Melt. It’s a bit of a tradition to eat at the Forest Lake after our meetings, we even have a favorite roundtable way in the back of the bar that we sit at. We always talk way too much and end up getting home late. 😊
Pokegama is still in the throughs of freezing over, opening back up in parts and then freezing. The middle seems to be open more due to moving water/waves.
Thought of a possible New Year’s resolution, one or more SCUBA dives every month… We’ll see. My last New Year’s resolution to read more hasn’t panned out so well.
I have noticed that Podcaster Scott Galloway often prefaces/sets up his comments by using the compound subordinating conjunction “such that.” My favorite “such that” is from an MIT online-line course, Introduction to Computer Science, in which Prof. Eric Grimson uses the phrase during his lecture for the declarative statement, “the square root of x, is that y such that, y squared equals x, y cannot equal zero.” I feel like people who know they are really intelligent, enjoy signaling intelligence by declaring “such that” many times. Someday, I hope to be able to use this phrase in a profound way.
\[
\sqrt{x} = \{\, y \in \mathbb{R} \;\big|\; y^2 = x,\; y \ne 0 \,\}
\]
I’m declaring Thursday, December 4th, as Ice-Over Day for Wendigo Bay, such that the ice meets the condition of being continuous across the bay without cracks. Andrew immortalized the occasion with pictures.
End of blog. Thank you for reading!
