Normally, I do not write about work related matters but I feel like I should at least mention that this stressful week was completely occupied with matters related to two Minnesota State Statutes § 629.366 THEFT IN BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS; DETAINING SUSPECTS and § 629.39 PRIVATE PERSON MAKING ARREST TO DELIVER ARRESTEE TO JUDGE OR PEACE OFFICER. When acting under these two statutes, effective communication and mutual understanding between private business and public law enforcement are critical to the success of corporate security operations. In most cases, private security presents a well-documented, professional case for law enforcement handoff. However, there are occasions when situations escalate unexpectedly, and officers encounter the less polished realities of private security work. When public agencies assume a level of familiarity with corporate policies and procedures that do not exist – welcome to my week, operational risk increases.
Friday night we watched the movie Bird Box. We all agreed that it was good, I thought the plot was interesting and it kept my attention. This movie spawned the “Bird Box Challenge” that caused controversy and trouble for some people.
We have had a very cold week with temperatures reaching close to 30 below zero at times. Here is a cool slow-motion video that Tiffany took of Andrew tossing water into the air on Saturday. ❄️
