Artemis II, Easter 🌷🐇

I had a day off from DRPD on Tuesday but was unsuccessful in making the most of it. Wednesday was April 1st. Andrew reported to both Tiffany, and myself, that he and Willow, were being chased by a bear while they were walking on a trail within the Golden Anniversary State Forest… He briefly fooled both of us.

I replaced both my stock rear sight, and front night sight, on my Glock duty sidearm with a new set of Trijicon HD XR Night Sights. The tritium in my old front night sight had decayed significantly, and the existing sight combination was not ideal for front-sight acquisition. 🎯 After mangling my Glock rear sight pusher tool, banging on it with a hammer, and fumbling around with the front sight screw, I somehow managed to attach them dents, scratches, and all. 🔨

Artemis II successfully lifted off Wednesday evening with a crew of four! 🚀🌗 The crew used the interim cryogenic propulsion stage as target practice for testing lunar lander docking maneuvers while manually controlling Orion (Integrity).

Approximately one thousand pounds of propellant was consumed by Orion’s main Aerojet Rocketdyne AJ10-190 engine for Thursday’s Translunar Injection (TLI). It is also the first-time astronauts will be communicating using the NASA Deep Space Network system for communication since Apollo 17 which flew in 1972.

On Sunday, we were invited to David’s Diamond S Ranch for Easter dinner. While driving to David's, I showed Tiff and Andrew the Deer River Shortcut route. After arriving, we met David, Julie, Deb, Steve, Alex, and Colton.

The Strawberry salad was delicious, Tiffany's Cheesy Potatoes were excellent, the Turtle Pie was very good as well, and everything else was delightfully delicious! Steve and I also enjoyed a couple of cold Miller Lites from David's walk-in refrigerator in the downstairs bar.

After we left, we made a detour and took the Max loop which is Co Hwy 46, Co 4, Co 34, and back to Hwy 46. The Pine forest is beautiful along the route, it feels like you are driving through a park. 🌲
