Danner Boots 🥾, Miner’s Inc., Flower Moon 🌕, Prom 2026 💃🕺

Monday, Tiffany mailed one of my three pairs of Danner Style 69210 Acadia 8” Black GTX 200G Thinsulate in for Re-crafting service. The left boots heal-counter is broken and both boots need to be re-soled. I am curious how they turn out. I have another pair, my oldest, that is in really poor shape so I’ll see how these turn out and then maybe send those in.

Monday the 27th, the Deer River City Council approved changing my DRPD employment status from part-time to full-time effective May 4th. Tuesday started with a hard evaluation and gut check and then continued with a super crazy evening of FTO. I am really looking forward to being able to completely focus on my job next Monday. The US Forest Service gave us a chance to check out their fire-fighting drone. It drops balls of fire retardant that activate due to a chemical reaction. The size of the drone was impressive.

Friday, May 1st was my last day with Miner’s Inc. In order to not have a gap in family health insurance for the month of May, I had to work one day into the month. It was uncomfortable for me to walk away from a job that has been secure and provided for my family.

Friday was also the Flower Moon which marks the beginning of my favorite time of the year. 🌕

On Saturday, Andrew attended Prom 2026 with Claire Scheffler. They went to Ravenstone Abbey in Coleraine for pictures and dinner before walking through Grand March. The dance and post-prom were held at the YanMar Arena.

I’ve been thinking about a better way to reference past posts than the date ranges I currently use. Right now, everything is tied to a file name like “2026_05_03,” which works for storage but not for conversation—there’s nothing intuitive about it when I want to point back to something. One idea is assigning a case number, like IK26000019. That would make referencing cleaner and more flexible, especially within a given year. The tradeoff is that a case number only tells you where the post falls in that year, not across the full history. It raises a bigger question: do I want a system based on chronology, or one that reflects the type or purpose of the post?
