SCUBA night-dive 🤿, Moen Faucet🚰🔧, Stop Stick Wednesday 🛑 🛞🛞, Steve’s Birthday
Pokegama lake days
Jon and I did a night-dive in Tioga on Tuesday the 14th. I brought four
Cyalume light sticks with me and I managed to get a couple of them cut open. The visual effect is like a bunch of green stars in absolute blackness slowly falling away into the abyss. 🌟 At around 100 feet, I cupped the front of my dive light and the absolute lack of light reminded me of a mine tour where they turn off the lanterns to show you what absolute darkness actually looks like. It’s weird how my brain panicked a little because of no visual input. After the dive, I floated on the surface for a bit and enjoyed looking at all the real stars.
On Monday the 20th, I installed a Moen Adler 87233SRS Pulldown kitchen faucet. For future reference the supply lines have 3/8-inch compression fittings and the faucet’s flow rated at 1.5 GPM (5.7 L/min) at 60 PSI. Our pressure switch gauge is set between 38 and 57 PSI and we have a 22-gallon FL7 pressure tank. I ran into two problems, the supply line shut off valves don’t close anymore so I had to turn the breaker off for our water pump. Second issue was removing the two nuts holding the old faucet to the sink. After a couple of trips to Home Depot, I managed to get a tool that was able to remove the nuts. Needless to say, what should have been a pretty easy straight forward plumbing task turned into a stressful evening. But, in the end everything turned out and we have a much nicer faucet. 👍
For the first time in my career, I successfully deployed a set of Stop Sticks on Wednesday the 22nd at the intersection of Hwy 2 & Co 11 resulting in the apprehension of a fleeing felon traveling westbound towards Deer River. The vehicle was being pursued by several law enforcement squads at a high rate of speed and managed to continue westbound after hitting my sticks for approximately one mile before the front driver’s side, and rear drivers’ side, tires came apart causing the vehicle to slide into the ditch. The suspect fled on foot but didn’t make it very far before being apprehended.
On Saturday the 25th, we celebrated Steve’s 74th birthday at Otis’s Grill & Bar at Sugarbrooke Golf Course. We had a basket of garlic cheese curds with a side of chipotle mayo for an appetizer and a spicy pickle burger for the main course.

On Sunday, Tiffany went to Alex Lynn Sandstrom’s wedding shower at the Blackberry town hall.
